No the ponytail thing was from the 80's and 90's. A very popular hairstyle for teens was a ponytail, and for women curly hair, more curly on the bottom and just sort of wavy at the top. Bangs were also popular.
I thought the ponytail on the side came from the 80's. Oh well, they just repeat fashion and fads every 10 yrs. anyway:)
